click here to view Maine – Part 1 7. Maine is a state where you can get splendid sunrise and sunset photos. Unfortunately the days we spent there, it was always cloudy in the mornings and in spite of waking up early to watch the 5:00 am sunrise we couldn’t see one. We did get a couple of sunset photos & this was taken in Boothbay Harbor where the English established an early seasonal fishing camp here in 1600s. It was renamed Boothbay in 1842.

8. Acadia National park off the Atlantic ocean is the oldest national park east of the Mississippi river. It has many hiking, horse riding trails, lakes, mountains, beautiful sunset and sunrise points and scenic drives along the coast. There is also a  fjord called “Somes Sound”. There is a walking trail which runs along the ocean for many miles and it takes you through some of the popular vista points like Thunder Hole, Sand Beach etc.

9.Jordan Pond in Acadia National Park was formed during the last glacial period. Jordan Pond House Restaurant offers tea in the evenings and there are chairs kept in the lawn where you can sit and sip your tea looking at the stunning Jordan pond. Do try Popovers with your tea. Other popular places in the national park are Cadillac Mountain, Schoodic Peninsula & the only lighthouse in the park called Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse.

10. If you are in Acadia National Park and you want to do one sunrise and one sunset, then I would suggest sunrise at Cadillac mountain which is called “the nation’s first sunrise” and sunset at the Bass Harbor Lighthouse. If you have one more day of sunrise then I would recommend to stop by Seawall near Southwest Harbor to catch a spectacular sunrise. This stunning sunset photo was clicked by a very good friend Arushi Garg who along with her husband did a road trip to Maine from New Jersey.

11. We stayed in Southwest Harbor in Acadia National park in a cottage on a working pier where lobster boats would leave early morning and come back with their catch of the day. Evenings were so peaceful there and this photo will show you exactly how stunning the place looked in the evening light. Bar Harbor is another place you can stay if you visiting Acadia national park. This place also has many restaurants and art galleries.
